Dawn Wells is an Actress, Author, Journalist, Motivational Speaker, Adventurer, Businesswoman, Entreprenuer, Chef and Volunteer. If you are ready for the
21st Century, then she is a lady you should know more about. Most of you know her as "Mary Ann" on the longest running show in the history of television
syndication, "Gilligan's Island", of which she still has fond memories. However, there is so much more to Dawn than Mary Ann. Not only has she done done
over 60 theatrical productions from Neil Simon to Tennessee Williams, but also over 120 television shows, as well as a number of feature films. Within the last three
months Dawn's credits include: Co-executive producer and co-creator of the hit CBS Movie-of-the-Week,"Surviving Gilligan's Island", which aired October 14, 2001. She
hosted it as well. While producing the movie, Dawn flew to Michigan to appear in a film called "Super Sucker", written, produced and directed by Jeff Daniels for theatrical
release early in 2002. She was a guest star on the NBC series "Three Sisters", while also appearing as one of the survivors on Jay Leno's Tonight Show five weeks in a row.
All of this took place in the spring of 2001.
She did a pilot produced, written and directed by Fran Drescher, hosted a CBS variety show called "TV's All Time Favorites"
, a Western Union commercial, Voice-Overs, countless tv and radio talk shows including the Today Show (four times). While serving as Australia's castaway correspondent, she interviewed talents such as Mel
Gibson, Tom Hanks, Eddie Murphy and Julia Roberts to name a few.
Dawn guested as "Chef Du Jour" for a week on the TV Food Network, which is no surprise as she has written her own cookbook called
"Mary Ann's Gilligan's Island Cookbook", which consists mainly of three generations of her family recipes.
Wearing her producer's hat, Dawn has co-produced and hosted her own female fishing show called
"Dawn Wells Reel Adventures", fly fishing all over the world. She also hosted and co-produced the Childrens' Miracle Network Broadcast for mid-Missouri and a "Gilligan's Island"
retrospective for the E Channel. Dawn has several more projects in the wings including a movie-of-the-week with director and producer Deborah Reinisch called "A Higher Place in Heaven"
written by Pamela Parker.
In addition to her busy life, Dawn has established the Dawn Wells' Film Actors Boot Camp near Jackson Hole, WY, where in one intense week during the summer, actors
learn the art of Acting ON Camera as well as the business of the film industry. And even though she's in constant demand for personal appearance and speaking engagements,
Dawn found time to create a line of clothing for the physically challenged called the
Wishing Wells Collection, which can be seen right her on the site.
Dawn serves on many boards including as a
Trustee of Stephens College, one of her alma maters. She is also a graduate of the University of Washington. She serves on the University of Missouri Children's Hospital Advisory Board
and on the Advisory Board of Women in Film and Video.
Dawn is an avid world traveler, having climbed the mountains in Rwanda to view the
mountain gorillas, canoed in the Solomon Islands where women had never been before and she has gone on four Safaris as well as flying around the world on the Concorde.
Dawn is definitely a woman for the new millenium, a fact that becomes more apparent as you tour her site.
